Biography

Shelly Devlin received her Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance and Education from the University of Iowa and her Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from the University of Washington. Upon completion of her master's degree, the University of Washington honored her by inviting her to teach High Brass Techniques to undergraduate music majors. Shelly's primary teachers include Allen Vizzutti, Vern Sielert, Don Lanphere, David Greenhoe, Gene Kubli, and her father John Devlin. Additional studies have been taken with David Gordon and Justin Emerich.

An active performer, Shelly has served as trumpeter with Navy Band Northwest, Five Star Brass, and the Tacoma Concert Band. She has also performed with the Bremerton Symphony, Tacoma Musical Playhouse, Port Townsend Symphony, and Seattle Women's Jazz Orchestra. She can be heard on two recently released recordings, Dreamcatcher by SWOJO and In the Deep by the Hope. Shelly is a band and orchestra sales specialist and educational services representative for Ted Brown Music Company and serves as a private teacher and clinician in the Puget Sound region.
